Description

As I set up my RASA8 rig to image M81 galaxy group during nautical twilight, I looked up to see a large protruding gray cloud coming from the north. I thought, surely that I wasn't already seeing Northern Nights. A quick cell phone pick showed a red pillar crossing 60 percent of the northern sky just past the zenith.  I quickly scrambled inside and to grab my tripod and newish Canon R8 I had purchased for opportunities just like this one for add a fullframe modern chip to my equipment.  I have not had a good luck for getting Milky Way images with it, but used it with the 135 mm to the solar eclipse (images may eventually be edited).

This clip occurred between 330 and 415 AM and to me consists of an incredible portion of the night time lapse. The beautiful KU Jayhawk crimson and blue colors left me in complete awe.

It had been a while since I updated PS and adobe raw, so had to wait on rural country internet to update before I could even process the CR3 files.  I set the exposure for 10 seconds at ISO 3200 with a 30 second interval. I really love seeing this form my backyard with the playset and gardens in the foreground. I also tried to get Ursa Major and Cassiopeia in the frame as they rotated around the north celestrial pole.

Hope every enjoys this incredible portion of a wonderful event.
